With its release of the new O&O Defrag 10, the Berlin-based O&O Software is reissuing its leading solution for the defragmenation of PCs and servers with full support for all current Windows operating systems, including Vista in 32- and 64-Bit formats. The new and exclusive Auto defrag functionality that adjusts its resource usage to a user's needs, represents a milestone in the development of defragmenation software. For the first time ever, this functionality allows users to remedy performance slowdowns associated with disk fragmentation permenantly and without any need for user interaction.
O&O Defrag is the only product offering five defragmentation methods designed for a variety of different workstation or server demands. These differing defragmenation stategies differ in speed, required system resources and degree of optimization, enabling the selection of the right method for the right scenario. In O&O Defrag 10 it is now even possible to leave the selection of the best defragmenation strategy up to the O&O Defrag's auto-defragmentation function.
The integrated OneButtonDefrag Wizard in O&O Defrag 10 provides users with support in activating automatic defragmentation by determining a computer's use patterns through a user questionnaire. Whether a computer is use mainly at work or for gaming, O&O Defrag 10 will automatically choose individual defragmentation strategies and combinations for optimal results. In addition, its high-power algorithms are able to adjust themselves over time to continually work against performance losses due to disk defragmentation. Once OneButtonDefrag is activated, O&O Defrag begins to monitor the fragmentation of a computer's drives, stepping in when needed.
This Wizard is not just available to private users, but can also be used by corporate Administrators to determine differing defragmentation strategies for Servers. Among other options, special strategies are available for file and database servers for regularly optimizing server storage volumes on-the-fly in the background. Additionally, the integrated O&O ActivityGuard Pro constantly monitors and controls the resource consumption of O&O Defrag, making sure that users do not sense any resource limitations on their PCs while O&O Defrag is working. Naturally, it is still possible in O&O Defrag 10 to define custom defragmentation strategies using the built-in job scheduling funtion.
The new Version 10 also includes a ScreenSaver Mode, which addtionally sports its own O&O Defrag ScreenSaver, making use of beautiful 3-D animation that visualizes the Defragmentation process. Users need only to activate this function in O&O Defrag and a defragmentation will start whenever the computer goes to ScreenSaver.
One-of-a-kind and new is the fact that O&O Defrag's optimization will start wherever it last left off, eliminating redundant operations.
